In the world's ultimate talent search, where the eyes of a
nation are upon the best undiscovered singers in the country,
where the audience has the power to make or break you, and
where a million-dollar recording contract is on the line,
there is only one rule: If you can sing it, bring it.

Round
of 8: The 1980s
April 4
In our first
shocker of the season (but not the last), Colton gets
booted on his favorite worship song. You can't take that
time back, but we can go back in time. Thanks to guest
mentors Gwen Stefani and Tony Kanal, we're going back to
the 80s, and no doubt will the competition be fierce.
1. Deandre Brackensick - I
Like It - Debarge - NOW I remember this song...do I like this
performance...not so much. For a guy with pipes like this, his passion
level is zero. And why with a killer falsetto like this, he didn't
choose a Prince song? (depending on the availability of course) TROUBLE
2. Elise Testone - Foreigner - I Want to Know What Love is - I am trying
to remember who she is trying to sound like...but it isn't good. This is
a pale, passionless performance that means nothing. She is definitely in
the bottom three...AGAIN. TROUBLE.
DUET #1 - Colton/Skylar - Islands in the Stream
3. Phillip Phillips - That's All - Genesis - Same Phil Phillips. While I
was bored, the girlies will vote to keep him. This was his WORST
performance by a LONG SHOT. But it doesn't matter. SAFE.
DUET #2 - Hollie/Deandre - I'm So Excited
4. Joshua Ledet - If You Dont Know Me By Now -Simply Red - Oversinging
mess. TROUBLE.
5. Jessica Sanchez - How Will I Know - Whitney Houston - Wise beyond her
years, perfect song choice, and killer pipes. Best performance of the
night, by a long shot. SAFE.
DUET #3 - Phillip/Elise - Stop Dragging My Heart Around
6. Hollie Cavanagh - What a Feeling - Irene Cara - The thing about this
was a) it was Karaoke b) this felt like a cruise ship program c) this
was boring. TROUBLE.
Duet #4 - Joshua/Jessica - Knew You Were Waiting for Me
7. Colton Dixon - Time After Time - Cyndi Lauper(by way of Quiet Drive)
- He took their version(and very cool that he made sure to acknowledge
it) and absolutely KILLED it. LOVED THIS. SAFE.
8. Skylar Laine - Wind Beneath My Wings - Bette Midler - Again, another
great vocal by Skylar. Great choice and arrangement. SAFE.
Trouble - Deandre, Elise, Joshua, Hollie
Bottom Three - Deandre, Elise, Hollie
Bottom Two -. Elise, Hollie
Out - Hollie with no save.
