Round of 24: The Results... And the Wild Card
March 3

Dino Alexander: Last two nights, 24 people sang for your votes... Only 13 will get a shot to do it again next week. But who?  We... are... LIVE.
Jason Block: "Every superstar.... begins with a dream."
Dino Alexander: And in the course of 117 minutes, 9 dreams are about to be crushed.
Jason Block: That's life. And that's Idol.
Dino Alexander: That's the competition.
Jason Block: Cue the UFO
Dino Alexander: UFO is ready.
Jason Block: Because THIS.... (Clears THROAT)
Dino Alexander: IS AMERICAN IDOL?
Jason Block: YES!
Dino Alexander: And we've got results.
Jason Block: 40M Votes over 2 nights.
Dino Alexander: But the question... what did they do? After the top 10 is named, the judges will decide who will they want to sing for a spot in the top 10. Or top 12.
Jason Block: or top 13
Dino Alexander: Or whatever number they want to have this year. And it all goes down after the first of many commercial breaks.
Jason Block: Guys first.
Dino Alexander: Yep. Clint Jun Gamboa. My call: OUT. Tim Halperin. My call: TROUBLE. Jovany Barreto... TROUBLE. Jordan Dorsey.... OUT. Brett Loewenstern... OUT.
Jason Block: Yup. For most of it.
Dino Alexander: Paul McDonald... IN.
Jason Block: NO WAY!
Dino Alexander: Just have a feeling about it. Jacob Lusk... DEFINITELY IN. Casey... WTF? GET OFFA MY STAGE, HOMES.
Jason Block: No thanks.
Dino Alexander: Next up... defining Idol moments so far... Including "You're hot. I love you. That's all."  ... that's what passes for criticism these days?
Jason Block: Unfortunately.
Dino Alexander: And Brett's a cookie.
Jason Block: He's the fruitiest cookie since Sanjaya
Dino Alexander: Ha... Serious lights... SERIOUS MUSIC.. Scotty & Robbie are first. Scotty was perfect with "Letters from Home".
Jason Block: Very much
Dino Alexander: Robbie sang "Angel" ... not so perfect with that. Scotty... WELCOME TO THE TOP 10!
Jason Block: Duh.
Dino Alexander: Which means I'm going to hear about it on WRAL tomorrow morning ad nauseum. :-)  Robbie... not in the top 10. Next up, Clint and Jordan and Jovany. I give it to Clint. Clint wowed with "Superstition".
Jason Block: Stop with the crying baby
Dino Alexander: Jordan split the judges with "OMG". Song choice, dude. Song choice. Jovany was just OK with "I'll Be" Clint... and Jordan... not in the top 10.
Jason Block: Knew that too.
Dino Alexander: Jovany... also not in the top 10.
Jason Block: A little surprise
Dino Alexander: Not really. I mean, they all had their issues, and no one was really a standout, so right now we're looking for "good singers".
Jason Block: Yes.
Dino Alexander: Scotty was a good singer.
Jason Block: A damn good singer
Dino Alexander: I may need to turn my bass up a little. Heh.
Jason Block: yup
Dino Alexander: The women are going under the microscope next.
Jason Block: Yes.
Dino Alexander: Lauren Alaina.... IN.  Thia Megia... IN. Naima Adedapo... IN. Karen Rodriguez... TROUBLE? I mean, one of those things where I know why she did it, I just wonder if it was a good move for her THIS EARLY. Rachel Zevita and Tatynisa Wilson... and Julie Zorrilla... OUT. Pia Toscano... BEST OF THE NIGHT. That was scary. "I know where you live, America, and I'm going to cut you."
Jason Block: That's a dumb nasty thing to say
Dino Alexander: You THINK? =p Okay, Pia and Lauren are first. Pia Toscano gets the first standing O with "I'll Stand By You".
Jason Block: Both are in :)
Dino Alexander: Lauren was compared to Kellie Pickler. Ew.
Jason Block: LOL
Dino Alexander: Lauren... IN THE TOP 10! Pia Toscano... IN THE TOP 10.
Jason Block: Yup. :)
Dino Alexander: Tatynisa and Julie... They're both going to be out.
Jason Block: YUp.
Dino Alexander: Yeah, where was that honestly LAST NIGHT? Julie KNEW she shouldn't have sang that song. She's going to suffer for it. And so is Tatynisa.
Jason Block: Knew that.
Dino Alexander: So far: Scotty McCreery, Pia Toscano, and Lauren Alaina are three of your top 10. More serious lights... more serious music... Next, Kendra, Karen, and Ashthon... Kendra was compared to Lauryn Hill on "Impossible." Ashthon Jones split the panel with "Love Over Me". Karen Rodriguez owned "Hero".
Jason Block: NO she didnt!
Dino Alexander: Just saying what the panel said. Ashthon... NOT in the top 10. Going through to the top 10.... KAREN, and Jason Block says...
Jason Block: FIX!
Dino Alexander: On cue.
Jason Block: They voted for her because she was Spanish. Yeah I said it.
Dino Alexander: Next is Tim, Casey, and Jacob. I'll tell you right now... JACOB's in. Tim and Seth Rogen... not so much. Jacob was the next Luther with "This House Is Not a Home". Tim needed to be at a piano with "Streetcorner Symphony". And Casey... well, at least Jennifer Lopez thinks you're sexy. I wish an international sex symbol thought I was sexy. JACOB's IN!
Jason Block: Not a surprise.
Dino Alexander: Nope. Joining him.... CASEY? WHA? Are you kidding me?
Jason Block: The public are morons. I told you this
Dino Alexander: This lunkhead could be American Idol?
Jason Block: He won't.
Dino Alexander: Next... Naima Adedapo, Thia Megia, and Lauren Turner.
Jason Block: This is going to be tough.
Dino Alexander: Very.
Jason Block: Cause all three were very good.
Dino Alexander: I want to say Thia and Naima get in. Two spots open. But only one will get filled.
Jason Block: ONE?
Dino Alexander: Naima... is NOT in the top 10.
Jason Block: A little surprised
Dino Alexander: Me too. Thia's going in.. CALLED IT! And Jason Block says..
Jason Block: Of course. Not a fix. She was good. She performed.
Dino Alexander: Next... Paul McDonald and Brett Loewenstern..
Jason Block: Paul is in.
Dino Alexander: Brett... might've lit a fire with "Light My Fire". No thanks. Paul McDonald... went with Maggie May... And they loved his "character". That's a diplomatic way of saying you suck. Joining the top 10.... PAUL MCDONALD!
Jason Block: YES! Thank goodness. People didn't want a Sanjaya.
Dino Alexander: So eight of the top 10 is locked, Scotty McCreery, Pia Toscano, Lauren Alaina, Karen Rodriguez, Jacob Lusk, Casey Abrams, Thia Megia, and Paul McDonald. Serious lights, serious music... Haley and Rachel, front and center.
Jason Block: I think both are out
Dino Alexander: Haley fell with "Fallin'", while Rachel was very "Criminal".  One of them will make the top 10
Jason Block: Oh well. Haley will get in.
Dino Alexander: That person... HALEY.
Jason Block: Final man...
Dino Alexander: Finally, Stefano Langone & James Durbin.
Jason Block: James is in. HAs to be.
Dino Alexander: Stefano's in... And the final top 10 spot goes to...  JAMES DURBIN!
Jason Block: Told you :)
Dino Alexander: Ha HA! Okay, for the other 14, it's time to... SING FOR YOUR LIFE. DUN DUN DUUUUUUUUN! And this is where I'm going to let Jason fly solo, because I have to fly...

We are back with the top 10....and the Wild Card Competition. Some will get a chance to sing again, and they can sing any song they want so far. 6 are singing....3 men and 3 girls.

Girls first and Ashthon is up first. She sings some Jennifer Hudson (nee Holliday)..."And I am Telling You" from Dreamgirls. Unfortunately, she is very pitchy and robotic. No passion. (at least for me). She goes back stage. The judges loved her attitude and passion...

2nd is Stefano. He sings "I Need You Now" by Smokey Norfal. This was a lot more passionate performance and but his facial expressions were a little frightening....and the money notes were a little off to me.

Next is Kendra. She sings "Georgia on my Minds" (actually Mind). This is the first soulful performance that deserves to be in the top 10. I liked this a LOT. Vocals and passion and attitude.

Next is Jovany. He sings "Angel" by Jon Secada. He is trying to pull the card that got Karen Rodriguez in the top 10. I am not sure if that performance will do it. It just feel flat.

Last girl up is Naima. Ta-Tynisa, Lauren Turner, Rachel and Julie are out of the top 24. She sings "For All We Know" by Donny Hathaway. I love her voice. I like her performance as well. She should be in as well.

Final singer is Robbie. End of the road for Clint, Jordan, Tim, and Brett. He will sing "Sorry Seems to be The Hardest Word" by Elton John. But he mumbled his way through the song and tried to mask his bad vocals with vocal runs.

If it were up to me. Naima and Jovan\y would make the top 12.

What will the judges say? We will find out after the premiere of "On The Floor" by J-Lo....and another break.

Will there be any additions to the top 10? Yes, and Ashthon is in. That makes 11.

2 more to go! Jennifer says Stefano.

Steven is the final judge...with one more to go. Naima is in!

That makes a top 13! We're finished building, now to unbuild until we get a final 2. The Finals, next week!
