Couples Revisited - August 30

Welcome back to a NEW season of Fear Factor! We have NEW stunts, NEW games, and NEW gross things to do. Why, the only thing that isn't new is the returning host, Joe Rogan!!!! That, and...

The contestants.

We start this season off with some very familiar faces. This is the return of the couples from the million dollar Fear Factor tournament. The top 5 teams from that competition return to earn more money, win more prizes, and perhaps settle a score or two with teams that didn't get settled. Here are our 5 teams...

Jackson and Monica - The team that won the whole thing last year. In addition to that, they got married in Vegas, with Mr. Rogan presiding over the ceremonies. AwwwwBarf.

Meghan and James - The team that didn't win anything until the last episode, where they won a trip to Russia. That's all they won, so they are certainly hungry for more money.

Adam and Meg - This was team dysfunction, as they wound up arguing and screaming at each other for the whole series. They won a lot of prizes, but the agita caused them to break-up after the show. They are back for one more shot - and it is amazing what over $100,000 will motivate you to do, isn't it?

Jim and Melissa - This was the team that was clearly favored to win on the series, until a really bad performance upset their chances to win. The couple, now engaged, are back to win more, much to the chagrin of arch-nemesis Meg and Adam

Todd and Rachel - They didn't do anything special, but they did finish in the top 5 and win more than $10,000 worth of goodies. That certainly is worth them coming back.

One of these people will be able to reap the benefits of coming back early.

CHALLENGE 1: In the first stunt, the couples have to jump over an ever widening set of ledges to get as many flags as possible. The team that gets the most amount of flags wins a set of Jeep Cherokees and selects the order of the second stunt.

We start with the defending champions, as Jackson and Monica get 19 flags. Meghan and James are used to that second placed position, as they are in second with 17. Adam and Meg (who argues along the way) and Jim and Melissa both get 15, while Todd and Rachel pick up the rear with 13. So after one stunt, we pick off right where we left off, with Jackson and Monica winning everything again.

CHALLENGE 2: The next stunt has the teams transferring keys to one of their partners, who's stuck in a cage. The teams have to unlock their partners, who must then swim to a buoy. The two teams with the slowest time can once again bicker on the way home.

Speaking of bickering, Adam and Meg is first. Let's see - they are only back for the show, and this stunt is a high-pressure one. They do as well as can be expected, as they complete the task in an agonizing 4:20.9.

Jim and Melissa would love to knock out their nemesis as they show the couples how to get this stunt done. They complete it in 2:04.9 as Adam and Meg are continuing to backbite at each other. It's not going to get better for them as Todd and Rachel complete their stunt in 3:46.7, which puts Adam and Meg on the edge.

How ironic that it would be Jackson and Monica to eliminate Adam and Meg. How ironic that they... quit? Yep, as Monica panics and quits out of the stunt. That blows everyone out of the water and Jackson has to console Monica as they leave.

Maybe that gives Adam and Meg some hope against James and Meghan. Things are looking like it as they also go very slow, but they manage to squeeze it out in a time of 3.40.6. You wouldn't expect Adam/Meg and Jackson Monica as the two teams out, but they are, and the field is wide open for Melissa and Jim to win.

CHALLENGE 3: Next stunt - a chance to win $20,000 by seeing how fast the couples can transfer squid ink to each other. The team that can fill up a cylinder the quickest wins the money. Todd and Rachel go first and get it done in 2:42.1. Meghan and James can beat that with a 2:01.4 score, but they are both blown away by Jim/Melissa's 1:22.1 and you may as well give Jim/Melissa the money.

CHALLENGE 4: But we can't do that yet, because we have the formality of a final stunt. In that said stunt, we get an obstacle course which features taking a key through a zipline and a water bike. The team that gets through the course the quickest wins.

Meghan and James go first - and they set the bar at 45.2 seconds. That seems to be good, until Todd and Rachel blow that away with a time of 32.2 seconds. Can they pull off the upset? No, as 25.1 seconds is all that Jim/Melissa needs to win the rematch and get a consolation prize of $50,000.
