Week 4: Living on Batteries
October 11

For this night, you might ask yourself "What's wring with this picture?" Yep, as advertised, it's "Acoustic night" where 9 couples dance the rumba or Argentine Tango with a stage rasied 30 feet above the audience and the music...well, you'll have to watch it now. Last time out, Margaret CHo's dress and overall dancing was enough for the public to go "oh, no." She is gone, but we still have "The Situation" bound to make an improvement. And what about Bristol? Will she knock Audrina or Jennifer off teh top spot? You'll see why. Turn off the lights and get the night lights ready, because we are go.

Kurt & Anna will get this night started with a rumba to "Drops of Jupiter" by Train. Anna did pretty well while Kurt did it with a tie that's not straightened. On to the judges....which is on the right side of the stage. Carrie Ann said the performance needed improvement, Len said they pitched the romantic side just right and Bruno said the movemnt needs to be a little smoother. As for the scoring, it'll be based on Technical and Perfomance. Here goes nothing anyway....

Techinical: 15 Performance: 19 Overall Score: 34

Next up, Brandy & Maksim doing a rumba to "This Woman's Work" by Kate Bush. Brandy is lying on the floor and Maks woke her up. He had energy later and by the end, he walks out while Brnady goes back to napping. Let's wake up with the judges. Carrie Ann said she did find the Brandy she was looking for and Len said it was a little bit hot & spicy for his taste. Let's fire up that scoreboard!

Technical: 22 Performance: 26 Overall Score: 48

How's this for an interlude? It's a demo of an Argentine tango, and it goes to Rick & Cheryl. They'll be the first up to try dancing. Cheryl did a split and she was jumping and having a big lift the whole time. Now to the judges. Carrie Ann said it felt one dimenional, Len said his legs could've been more crisper and sharper and Bruno said it could have been a better performance. Could it?

Technical: 19 Performance: 20 Overall Score: 39

Next is Kurt & Lacey dancing a rumba to "Nothin' On You" by B.O.B. w/Bruno Mars. Kyle slowed the energy down to make up for this slow routine. And the judges say....Carrie Ann said she liked what the performance was, Len said it didn't flow, but the performance was excellent and Bruno said the rumba didn't need a continuous flow. Let's move on to the scoreboard:

Technical: 18 Performance: 22 Overall Score: 40

Next, The Situation and Karina doing an Argentine Tango. Both did foot fiddling and Karina did an interesting lift later on. She even did a foot drag and we drag over to the judges. Carrie Ann said it was a true improvement to the performance, Len said it was consistent and Bruno said it was a terrible mess. Let's clean up the scoreboard:

Technical: 12 Performance: 16 Overall Score: 28

Florence & Corky do a rumba to "Yesterday" by The Beatles. Mark slowly went up the body of Mark and Florence did a whole lot of twirls. Now let's spin to the judges. Carrie Ann said "What just happened?" Len said it was better than expected and Bruno said a few less things would have sufficed. Let's get the leaderboard:

Technical: 17 Performance: 18 Overall Score: 35

Jennifer & Derek do an Argentine tango. They start by dancing around the piano and...perfect hands, huh? didn't need lessons for that. They continue to the circle. They are killing it!!!! To the judges we go. Carrie Ann said it was A-mazing...Len said it was one of his favorite Argentine tangos and Bruno said it was fantastic. Here's the numbers...

Techincal: 27 Performance: 29 Overall Score: 56

Bristol & Mark dance a rumba to "Umbrella" by Marie Digby. Mark danced solo while Bristol layed down. Soon after, he lifted her up and Bristol took off his shirt. Okay, let's move on. Carrie Ann said she has all the makings but there is no effort, Len said he wants to see more Mark in his performances and Bruno said the moves didn't go anywhere. let's go somewhere.

Techincal: 24 Performance: 22 Overall Score: 46

And lastly, Audrina & Tony doing an Argentine Tango to "Somebody To Love" by Jefferson Airplane. I'm thinking this could bethe routine that could take the lead thanks to Audrina's perfection. Now to the judges. Carrie Ann said his dismount is a bit sloppy, Len said the lifts were very good and Bruno said she performed the role of an ice queen. Let's skate to the numberboard...

Techincal: 24 Performance: 22 Overall Score: 46

So that's it for Acoustic Night. The final tally says....jennifer has 56, Brandy with 48, Bristol & Audrina tied with 46, Kurt with 40, Rick with 39, Florence with 35, Kurt behind her by a point and The situation with 28. It just goes to show you a round stage can mean dancing and the results show will break one couple off of the circle. We'll gather round at ya later.
