Week 2: Taking a Jumpstart Too Early...
September 27

Everybody wanted to "Hassel The Hoff..." for one week at least, as TV's "Knight Rider" star David Hasselhoff crashed & burned last week being the Kenny Mayne of this season. This week, slo-mo isn't for John Morrison lovers anymore as the remaining 11 tackle a jive or a quickstep. It'll be fast-paced like high-flying wrestlers making it the fastest show ever. But it won't be fast, because 120 minutes will be a long one. The chase for 1st place and an encore is on...now!

Off the line first is Rick & Cheryl doing a jive to "Tush" by ZZ Top. Rick threw around the jacket and put his foot over Cheryl for an interesting move. Rick did a spanking gesture and did a guitar gesture to end it. We move ahead to the judges. Len said it was compact, funand full of energy. Bruno and Carrie Ann agreed with that. On to the leaderboard:

Carrie Ann: 7 Len: 7 Bruno: 7 Total Score: 21
Off to a good start!

Next up, Florence & Corky doing a quickstep to "Suddenly I see"by KT Tunstall. It seemed that Corky has acting weird, but he maintained his posture anyway. By the end, Florence remained still in a pose while Corky moved. Let's move over to the judges. Carrie Ann said she did incredibly fora 76-year old, Len said her age has no bearing on how she dances and Bruno said it was like "Driving Miss Daisy," but loving at times. Let's speed up the leaderboard....

Carrie Ann: 7 Len: 6 Bruno: 6 Total Score: 19
They take out last place.

Next is Brandy & Maks doing a jive to "Magic" by B.O.B. Brandy bumped Maks off to do her solo and both did arm work for about oh, 10 seconds. Soon after wards, Brandy walked off the ballroom, but that was just for the routine. Now let's walk over to the judges. Carrie said the energy was great, Len said they took a step back this week and Bruno said she looked like a Gwen Stefani backup dancer. Let's move ahead to the scoreboard.....

Carrie Ann: 7 Len: 7 Bruno: 7 Total Score: 21
They tie for 1st place.

Michael & Chelsie go up next as they jive to "Hound Dog" by Elvis Presley. Michael had to crawl out of the doghouse and did his best Elvis. Chelsie did a back & forth slide and both did some tag claps. Even one interesting move ended it. Now to the judges. Carrie Ann said it was very awkward, Len said the world isn't ready for interpretation of the jive, and Bruno said it was a doggy mess. On to the number board:

Carrie Ann: 4 Len: 5 Bruno: 3 Total Score: 12
Sent to the basement!

Now up, Audrina & Tony doing a quickstep to "Love Machine" by Girls Aloud. One highlight you might see is both of them blowing a kiss to the judges. Now that's love. On to the judges. Carrie Ann said it was huge improvement from last week, Len said it was the best performance of the evening and Bruno said the movement was great. Moving on now...

Carrie Ann: 8 Len: 8 Bruno: 7 Total Score: 23
And they're now in the lead!

Jennifer & Derek dance a jive to "Shake It" by Metro Station. Derek started off with a slide split through Jennifer and both did arm work for a while. Now to the judges. Carrie Ann said the energy never letup from start to finish, Len said it was bright & colorful and Bruno said it was a killer jive. Let's shoot the numbers!

Carrie Ann: 8 Len: 8 Bruno: 8 Total Score: 24
They quickly take the top spot!

Next is Margaret & Louis doing a jive to "Dreaming" by Blondie. It seemed to be a reality as Margaret improved it from last week and made it their own. Let's stay awake with the judges. Carrie Ann asked her to watch the facial expressions, Len said the kicks need more toning and Bruno said her buttocks need to be more tightened. Uh, can we please move on?

Carrie Ann: 6 Len: 6 Bruno: 6 Total Score: 18
They stay one spot out of last place.

Kyle & Lacey go up to quickstep to "I Want You To" by Weezer. Kyle had a bit of a sitdown with Lacey on the entrance stairs and it seemed Kyle had gotten too fast, but stayed in position. There was even 1/2 a second of arm work towards the end. On we go with the judges. Carrie Ann loved it, Len said it wasn't a class quickstep and Bruno said he needs more control in ballroom. Now let's let the scoreboard take over:

Carrie Ann: 8 Len: 7 Bruno: 7 Total Score: 22
They now own 3rd place.

3 more couples and then we'll be through. Kurt & Anna will jive to "Danger Zone" by Kenny Loggins. Kurt was goofing off doing the moonwalk until Anna stopped him and made him do pushups. Yeah, Anna! Show 'em some punishment for him. Anna tossed her hat and there was almost a split by her. Kurt did a running knee slide to end it! Safe! ANd we get the judges again. Carrie Ann said it was easy for Kurt, Len said the kicks were a little bit soft and Bruno said he would love to see his progression over the competition. And the scoreboard says....

Carrie Ann: 7 Len: 7 Bruno: 7 Total Score: 21
It's a 3-way tie for 4th place.

The Situaion and Karina must quickstep to "Americano" by Brian Setzer. The Situation becomes a serviceman and Karina checks up on him. There was a jump split by Mike and a few back jumps by both. Karina pushes him tothe floor, but falls for him thereafter. Let's sping ahead to the judges. Carrie Ann said he needs to bust out the musicality, Len said it was a series of unfortunate events and Bruno said they need to find the balance. Let's put the scoreoard on tilt.

Carrie Ann: 6 Len: 6 Bruno: 6 Total Score: 18
They now tie with Margaret & Louis.

To end this thing, Bristol & Mark doing a quickstep to "You Can't Hurry Love" by The Supremes. I know it's a good quickstep, but what does her mom say about this?

Okay, now judges what do you say? Carrie Ann said Bristol is beautiful to watch, Len said it needs more flare and Bruno said she needs to become an actress. The final cut:

Carrie Ann: 7 Len: 8 Bruno: 7 Total Score: 22
They now tie for 3rd place.

Going 120mph in 2 hours means speeding tickets. Yeah, we paid for 'em. Here's the tally: Jennifer is on top with 24, Audrina with 23, 22s go to Bristol and Kyle, 21s go to Rick, Brandy and Kurt, Florence with 19, Margaret and Mike tied with 18 and Michael with 12. With those points for Michael olton, will he go home? You'll see on the results show tomorrow. Who'll be the one that drove too slow? Goodnight, America.
