Week 8: What We Look X Years Younger
May 10

It's becoming more tougher with 5 couples in the running for the championship come 2 weeks away. They'll do 2 objectives in one big examination. Get set for some real action. Week 8 of season X. It begins now.

BALLROOM ROUND
We kick off the first half with Chad & Cheryl doing a tango to "Sweet Dreams" by Beyonce. From there it was a proper tango including this move at the end. Now ot the judges. Carrie Ann said his posture was funky....really...Len needed a bit more polish and Bruno says it has to be slicker. Let's get the scores faster!

CARRIE: 7
LEN: 7
BRUNO: 7
Round 1 Score: 21

Next is Niecy & Louis doing a vienesse waltz to "I Got You babe" by Sonny & Cher. One highlight you might see is Niecy doing a floor sweep. Now let's clean up with the judges. Carrie Ann said it was a bit of too much push & pull, Len said he's pleasantry surprised and Bruno said it had great movement. Moving to the scoreboard....

CARRIE: 7
LEN: 8
BRUNO: 8
Round 1 Score: 23

Next is Erin & Maksim doing an Argentine Tango. Erin got up from the chair and took Maks' hat off. It was followed by a foot drag. She also did a leap onto an upside down hang before doing a foot sweep. Now we go to the judges. Carrie Ann said she's comitted to the character, Len loved it and Bruno said she's like a fire hydrant. Let's squirt off the numberboard....

CARRIE: 9
LEN: 10
BRUNO: 9
Round 1 Score: 28

We got Evan & Anna doing a waltz to "Open Arms" by Journey. Both start out lying down on the floor and did a rollaround. Anna did some twirls and a floor spin. Now let's spin over to the judges. Carrie Ann said the movements were there, Len didnt like the roly poly stuff and Bruno said it just was the romance of this dance. On to the scoreboard....

CARRIE: 9
LEN: 9
BRUNO: 9
Round 1 Score: 27

And to end the half, Nicole & Derek doing a foxtrot to "Haven't met You Yet" by Michael Buble. Both were reading from a newspaper on a park bench and threw it away for dancing. Nicole did a "sweating" gesture and Derek fake cooled it off. They both ended the same way the started it. Now let's finish it with the judges. Carrie Ann said she went in a different direction, Len said it turned it into an enchanting love story and Bruno said it was 1:30 of pure dancing joy. Now the scoreboard in 10 seconds....

BRUNO: 9
Round 1 Score: 29

So after 1 round, Nicole's in the lead with 29, but Chad has got to play some catchup. The second half will change all that. Let's go.

LATIN ROUND

ANd by go, I say we go back in time to decades past and present. We start out in the 60's with Chad & Cheryl doing a jive to "Love man" by Otis Redding. Cheryl ripped Chad's shirt off and did a one-arm pushup....that wasn't. Huh? Nearing the end, Cheryl did a split and now we trip over to the judges. Carrie Ann said the energy was a little wild, Len said it was fun and Bruno said he pimped tehat jive. Over to the scores....

CARRIE: 8
LEN: 8
BRUNO: 8
Round 2 Score: 24
Overall Score: 45

Next is Niecy & Louis going towards the 90's with a paso doble to "Rhythm is A dancer" by Snap! Both took the entrance via audience door and they felt the spirit of Gen-X. yeah. I'm feeling that. We go to the judges. Carrie Ann gave her a lot of credit, Len said it wasn't good enough and Bruno said she threw herself like an avalance. Throw in the numbers!

CARRIE: 7
LEN: 6
BRUNO: 7
Round 2 Score: 20
Overall Score: 43

We go back 1 decade off with Erin & Maks doing an 80's rumba to "Missing You" by John Waite. Maks threw his jacket off and there was a lot of dancing in it. We go to the judges. Carrie Ann said she moved beautifully, Len said it was jerky and Bruno said it had a Madonna feel to it. Now the numbers with a Square one TV feel to it.

CARRIE: 8
LEN: 8
BRUNO: 9
Round 2 Score: 25
Overall Score: 53

Next, we head into the future with Evan & Anna doing a cha-cha to "BulletProof" by La Roux. Through the magic of television, they appear and they did a yo-yo like move. Evan did another move and did a leg hurdle over Anna. They ended to the startign position. Let's go back to 2010 with the judges. Carrie Ann said it was perfectly lucky, Len said it lacked any rhythm and Bruno said it couldn't be more futuristic. Could it?

CARRIE: 9
LEN: 8
BRUNO: 9
Round 2 Score: 26
Overall Score: 53

We go back to the 50s as Nicole & Derek close it out with a paso doble to "Spanish Guitar" by Bo Diddley. Derek did a split and from there it took it to anotehr level. Now we go to the judges. Carrie Ann said it was brilliant, Len said it was nothing to critize and Bruno said it was full of color. Let's finish this masterpiece!

CARRIE: 10
LEN: 10
BRUNO: 10
Round 2 Score: 30
Overall Score: 59

That's all the dancing we could afford for you in 2 solid hours. Here's what the final tally gave:

Nicoel is on top with 59, 53s go to Evan & Erin, Chad gets a 45 and Niecy's last with 43. What a whirlwind of performances, but 1 couple;s time is expired. Tune in to the results show tomorrow and you'll see how it goes. Later.
