Week 5: Danger X 4
April 19

We're only halfway through our season-long journey as we get closer & closer to picking the victor. Soap star Aiden Turner burs this bubble, but Kate Gosselin continues to swarm below the scoreboard tally. Last week, she had a mini-breakthrough according to the judges. She'll better that this week as our 8 couples will do an examination of weeks 1, 2, 3 & 4. Strap in. Week 5 of season X. It begins...now.

Kicking things off is Niecy & Louis doing a jive to "La Bamba" by Los Lobos. The reason? It's movie night. All songs in this round relates to songs from famous movies. Niecy started shimmied through Louis lying body and did it alone in front of the judges and leaped back. By the end, she kissed Len on the forehead...with red lipstick! Ick! Now we turn to Carrie Ann who says she's the shimmy queen, Len said she finally put personality into the dance and Bruno said it was hard to focus. Now let's focus on the scoreboard.

CARRIE: 6
LEN: 6
BRUNO: 6
Total Score: 18
An average way to start the program.

Next is Chad & Cheryl doing "The Bare Necessities" from "the Jungle Book." They kept up in time with the rhythm including a sit-down split at the end from Cheryl. Now to the judges. Carrie Ann said it was uneven, Len said his posture improved and Bruno said dancing was too wild. Let's calm down with the scoring here.

CARRIE: 6
LEN: 6
BRUNO: 6
Total Score: 16
Pretty sure enough, they tie for the lead!

Next is Erin & Maks doing a jive to "You Never Can Tell" from "Pulp Fiction." Both sit at the table and Erin hurries him up to dance. Maks dances while staring at the menu and Erin has had enough. So, she throws it away. Getting to the end, Erin did a split and bowed by the time it was over. Now bow down to the judges. Carrie Ann said it was better than the other couples, Len said it was a bit hectic and Bruno said she has that Uma magic. Let's make the scores appear!

CARRIE: 7
LEN: 7
BRUNO: 8
Total Score: 22
And they catapult into the lead!

Jake & Chelsie cha-cha to "Old Time Rock & Roll" from "Risky Business." Jake did his best Tom Cruise and puts his pants on in order to make this show family-friendly. Smart move. After a running slide, he tried to keep her from getting hurt. Another smart move. Here's the judges. Carrie Ann loved the dance, Len called it their best dance and Bruno said the energy was incredible. Was it a smart way to take 1st?

CARRIE: 8
LEN: 7
BRUNO: 8
Total Score: 23
They quickly steal first place!

We'll get to Kate & Tony right after Pamela & Damian doing a quickstep to "9 to 5" by Dolly Parton. Pam comes first to sit and drink coffee while Damian arrives to get his shirt straight. Although they danced under a clock graphic, they went over the chairs & tables. No vases falling off. Time for the judges. Carrie Ann said she was fun to watch, Len said the balance was off and Bruno said the character was spot-on. Let's get the scores on the spot.

CARRIE: 7
LEN: 6
BRUNO: 8
Total Score: 21
And they get on 3rd place.

Now, Kate & Tony doing a Foxtrot to "Don't You (Forget About Me)" from "The Breakfast Club." Tony fake writes on a chalkboard. A whiteboard should've done it. Oh well. Anyways, Kate did a spin and go-through by the end. Here's the judges again. Hope she gets good critique this time. Carrie Ann said she sees a bit of grace developing, Len said it was a stroll and Bruno said it was catatonic. Don't know what it is, but I do know why...

CARRIE: 5
LEN: 5
BRUNO: 5
Total Score: 15
Another straight trip to the basement!

Next is Nicole & Derek doing a tango to "Oh, Pretty Woman" by Roy Orbison. Derek signaled for the 2-finger whistle for Nicole and by the time they danced, it worked like a charm. Now to the judges. Carrie Ann said it was art, Len said it was the best dance of the season and Bruno called them 2 players on top of the game. Looks like it'll be game over for Kate Gosselin tomorrow night and that's my prediction, but for now....

CARRIE: 10
LEN: 9
BRUNO: 10
Total Score: 29
And they shoot out into first place!

To finish the script, Evan & Anna doing a rumba to "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" from "Armageddon." Relax. It's not 2012, and it's 2010. Anyways, for one highlight, it was a slow split by Anna, and everything else was nice. On to the judges. Carrie Ann said the movement was beautiful, Len said it was artistic and Bruno said it was superb. Let's end this thing!

CARRIE: 9
LEN: 9
BRUNO: 9
Total Score: 27
And they get 2nd place.

And cut! Time for the janitors to clean out popcorn and candy from under the seats while we stare at the final tally:

Nicole leads it with 29, Evan skates to a 27, 23 goes to Jake, 22 goes to Erin, 21 goes to Pam, a pair of 18s go to Chad & Cheryl and lastly, yes lastly, Kate & Tony with 15. Can Kate crawl back for support, or will she finally give up and go home? The results show will tell tomorrow. That's a wrap!
