TOURNAMENT 6 - THE THEMED TOURNAMENT
EPISODE 5 - ROSIE AND FRIENDS
In Vegas, only the strong survive...or, at the very least, get out of town with some money in their pocket. The five players tonight don't have to worry about running out of dough. They're celebrities, for one thing. For another, this is CELEBRITY POKER SHOWDOWN, the serious cash-money tournament that plays like Beverly Hills home games, and it don't cost them a thing to get invited to this. The only deal is...they must play for charity, specifically for the largest parts of the Beck's Premier Light(TM) $250,000 Prize Pool and the $100,000 winner's share.
This season is different from previous tournaments because each and every preliminary table has a theme. This one has people who are friends and/or co-workers of Rosie O'Donnell...and Rosie as well! The celebs are:
CELEBRITY | BIO |
Eddie Cibrian playing for the V Foundation for Cancer Research |
He played poker rounder Eddie Towne on ESPN's series Tilt. His connection with Rosie: he and she played themselves in the TV movie "Jackie's Back". Will he be back for the Final Table or will he need Michal Madsen's help to survive THIS Vegas table? |
Mo Gaffney playing for Planned Parenthood |
This is Mo's THIRD - count 'em, THIRD - attempt at CPS. Her connection with Rosie: not sure but, being they both started as stand-up comedians, maybe they worked the same club. Will she join her former partner Kathy Najimy at the Final Table or will she bomb yet again?! |
Penny Marshall playing for A Place Called Home |
"Laverne DeFazio" is now a respected director like her father Gary. Her connection with Rosie: she directed Rosie in Rosie's first film, "A League of Their Own". Will she direct a winning streak tonight or will she be riding in Lounges with boys (Phil and Dave, that is)? |
Rosie O'Donnell playing for Rosie's Broadway Kids |
The woman, the myth, the legend! Talk show host, actress, life partner, adoptive mother...what ain't this babe done?! Oh, yeah...win HERE! Will she turn the others into (Betty) rubble or will she take an early "Exit to Eden"? |
Travis Tritt playing for Disabled American Veterans |
Back from his appearance in the second tournament (and a tour with Wanda Sykes, we think), this country-western star returns. His connection to Rosie: well,...I'm sure she likes C&W. Will he be "Ten Feet Tall and Bulletproof" this time or will he chock THIS loss up to "Foolish Pride"? |
Each celebrity will start with $10,000 worth of chips and the game will continue until one celebrity has all $50K in his/her possession, thus winning the "coveted" silver chip and making him/her eligible for the Final Table later in the year. At the announcers' position beside the Losers' Lounge are host Dave Foley and poker expert Phil Gordon. They'll be calling the action emanating from the main room.
Let's get busy! As Tournament Director Robert Thompson so constantly says. let's SHUFFLE UP AND DEAL!
