What if you were given a
second chance at life? A second opportunity to correct
the mistakes that have plagued you and stopped you from
doing what you love? This season on "The Biggest Loser",
the three hardest trainers in the world - Bob Harper,
Jillian Michaels, and Dolvett Quince - will, for the
first time ever, pick the 15 people who will head to the
ranch and compete for a shot at $250,000 and the title
of.. THE BIGGEST LOSER. For these 15 people, it's not
just a TV show... it's a life-or-death intervention.
October 15 will be the first day of the rest of your
life. .... A lot of
15s thrown around. Where's Ryan Reynolds? Anyway... the
15 of import are...
- Fernanda Abarca (3D
Animation Artist/Cake Sugar Artist), 32, Montrose, CA.
- Craig Arrington (Warehouse Supervisor for
Pharmaceutical Company), 30, Wilson, NC
- Chelsea Arthurs (Clinical Research Professional/Event
Planner), 28, Raleigh
- David Brown (Project Manager for Construction Company
and Social Commerce Leader for Phone Company), 43,
Edmond, OK.
- Rachel Frederickson (Voice-over Artist), 24, Los
Angeles
- Hap Holmstead (Sales Consultant/Entrepreneur), 26,
Pleasant Grove, UT
- Matt Hooper (Retail Manager), 38, Georgetown, MA.
- Holley Mangold (Olympic Weightlifter/Caterer), 24,
Columbus
- Jennifer Messer (Clerk/Bookkeeper), 42, Abingdon, VA
- Tumi Oguntala (Brand Strategist), 41, Clifton Park, NY
- Marie Pearl (Senior Staff Accountant at a Community
College), 30, Springfield, MO.
- Bobby Saleem (Attorney), 28, Chicago
- Jay Sheets (Marketing Associate for a Food Company),
38, Farmington, MO.
- Ruben Studdard (Singer), 35, Birmingham, AL
- Tanya Winfield (Chief Operating Officer of a
Restaurant Franchise), 41, Plainfield, IL
And yes, kids... THAT
Ruben Studdard.
The group meets the
trainers and the most underrated host of a game show to
ever come from a soap opera. SORRY, DOUG! Anyway, it's
time to pick teams. And that means... yeah, you gotta
work with them.
Just for arriving on the
ranch, they will get a free, gratis, here, take it, it's
yours... membership to Planet Fitness, the official
fitness center of "The Biggest Loser".
DAY ONE begins with a
group workout with ALL of the trainers, just so everyone
can get a feel through of what's going to happen and who
works best with who. And because NBC likes to beat a
dead premise, everyone is wearing their weight on their
shirt. Unfortunately for Ruben, that is a not a 205.
That's a 463.
And we have our first
"MEDIC!" of the season, courtesy of Jay, who cramps up
and falls. He gets back up on his horse, though. Way to
cowboy up. Meanwhile, Jillian has found her favorite...
Craig. He's here because his father passed away from
heart disease when he was 10.
After all of that, it's
time for an icedown. In a few cases, it's a bag on the
top of the head. In Ruben's case...
... yeah. Time for a
palate cleanser. Tanya is working to prevent a future of
childhood obesity for her daughter, who was actually
born overweight.
Now... it's time to
choose up sides. The teams and their starting weights...
RED (Dolvett): Ruben
(462), Jennifer (266), Rachel (260), Tanya (262), David (409)
WHITE (Jillian): Craig (385), Tumi (319), Jay
(297), Fernanda (250), Marie (249)
BLUE (Bob): Holley (351), Chelsea (241), Bobby (358), Matt (356), Hap
(403)
Dolvett takes a second to
get to know Ruben, since he's dealt with famous people
before. He was medicated for cardiomyopathy, got
married, got divorced, started living like a frat
brother, and... Bob's your uncle. Now he's trying to
shed "Big Rube". It takes a lot of discipline. More than
you know? More than you have? More than you think? Let's
go to work.
David wants to know that
his pain does not define him... his strength does.
Marie says that the White
Team may not have an Olympian or an American Idol... but
they do have strength and heart.
WEIGH-IN #1
Tonight, a RED line is in
play. The person on the losing team with the lowest
percentage weight-loss will be eliminated... UNLESS THEY
AREN'T. For the first time in Biggest Loser history,
each trainer will be given a Trainer Save. Any one of
the trainers can snipe an eliminated contestant back
onto their team if they choose to do so, but they can
only do it once, so they have to use it well, use it
wisely.
BLUE:
Holley: 335 (-16)
Hap: 386 (-17)
Chelsea: 229 (-12)
Matt: 333 (-23)
Bobby: 338 (-20)
TOTAL: 88 lbs (5.15%)
RED: (needs to lose more
than 85)
Ruben: 441 (-21)
Jennifer: 255 (-11)
Tanya: 236 (-16)
Rachel: 239 (-21)
David: ... who has the heart of a warrior down deep....
371 (-38!)
TOTAL: 107 lbs (6.45%)
WHITE (needs to lose more
than 77)
Tumi: 305 (-14)
Fernanda: 238 (-12)
Marie: 240 (-9)
Jay: 274 (-23)
Craig: 372 (-13)
TOTAL: 71 lbs (4.73%)
Which means that the
WHITE team is in danger. So who falls below the Red
Line?
1) JAY - 7.74%
2) FERNANDA - 4.80%
3) TUMI - 4.39%
4) MARIE - 3.61%
5) CRAIG - 3.38%
So unless Jillian wants
to use her save, Craig is going home... HE'S NOT GOING
HOME TONIGHT.
Go get some rest,
everyone... judging from the clips from this season...
you're going to NEED IT.
