I'm Surrounded by
Ninjas In the land of Bruce Lee, Nat & Kat (The Rhyming Docs) found a way to bolt to first place, while the Icks, Nick & Vicki, have fallen by the wayside. They're not out of it yet, but with a Speed Bump, they'll have to count on a Golden Harvest as the Race continues from Hong Kong. PIT
STOP Nat & Kat are the first to head out with clue in hand. Okay, Rhyming Docs. Time to operate!
"Really?" Yes, Kat. REALLY. The other teams' depart times (local time) are: Jill & Thomas (Team No I'M
Right!): 1647 At the airport, Nat & Kat are using their girl power to get a traveler to purchase a guide to Korea. Even has a little message inside: "Nat & Kat, Calm Winds & Following Seas." Nice. HONG KONG
INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT Meanwhile, Nick & Vicki finally get going, and Nick has a moment of restitution, realizing that after saying how much he cares about Vicki... she's pretty much thrown about like garbage. No longer, he says. In Hong Kong, talk is cheap. Even so, it looks like they're going to catch up with the rest of the teams... until they get to the counter the moment that the plane leaves! D'oh! The next flight is at 9:30, over nine hours later! 1ST FLIGHT: Team
No I'M Right!, Team Rhyming Docs, Team HSN SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA Six of the remaining eight haul rice buns to the DMZ... and Jill & Thomas are panicking in the lead. They're followed by HSN and Nat & Kat. They must be careful not to cross the border into the Communist north. A little hard to do in the rain. But as the Icks leave China, Jill & Thomas find the bridge. Now to find the clue. Ah, there we are.
Jill & Thomas are the first to paddle on the river. And the river paddles back. The other two teams follow suit. And so does the river. Oh Kelly Clarkson indeed. Jill & Thomas are the first to get into the trucks of the Greatest Army in the Free World. UNITED STATES
ARMY CAMP CASEY Once they arrive on base, it's on to the clue box.
Thomas takes the headband as Brook gives chase. Thomas beats her by a headband, and his soldier gives us an Army Strong flying kick to a board, which has this...
Kat takes to the field as the second time proves to be the charm for Brook. At the subway station, Jill doesn't see the other teams following her. That should be a good sign, especially given that Brook & Claire are trying to get past the gate, Nat & Kat are on the same train as HSN, but Nick & Vicki are still flying above the South China Sea somewhere. At World Cup Stadium, Jill & Thomas find...
Jill & Thomas can ice skate, but they suck at delivering stuff, so they're going Full Throttle. Brook & Claire... can't ice skate, so their choice is made for them. Nick & Vicki finally arrive in Korea, getting help from the locals to find the DMZ. Back at the head of the pack. Remember that Phil said "on foot or by subway" to the Detours. You would figure any time he does that it is significant. And here's why... because Brook & Claire are taking a taxi to the Detour. And they seem to have no problem with it. Nat & Kat... take the subway. Good for them. Next time get there a little quicker. Brook & Claire get into their laser suits for some skating action. Jill & Thomas follow, but they're confused as to how they were passed (C-Note: because they cheated, that's how). Back at Nick & Vicki's end... "I NEED TO TOILET!" That's okay, so do the Icks. Brook & Claire start to skate (I thought Claire couldn't!)... and Thomas & Jill run across the ice. Not elegant, but it does the job... well, for the first three laps. Nick & Vicki find a local Army base looking for the bridge... they don't know where it is either. Jill & Thomas finish the race first and are back in the lead when they get this...
Brook & Claire finally catch up, and it's a race to find a taxi. Nat & Kat go skating. In the cab, Jill & Thomas try and figure out how HSN passed them to get to the Detour first. Little do they know that HSN is about to pass them AGAIN...
Brook & Claire find a taxi, while Nat & Kat find their stride. Jill & Thomas find the plane and book to... PIT
STOP Brook & Claire are the first to meet Phil and the happy local, BUT... they took a taxi to the Detour. So it's 30 minutes before you can check in. That gives Jill & Thomas half an hour to find a cab and make their way to the Temple. Preferably one that speaks English. They do it in ample time and get the good news. "You're the second team to arrive. But Brook & Claire incurred a penalty. You're the first team into this leg. Congratulations! You are officially one of the three teams who will be racing to the finish line for the $1 million!" But in the meantime, you're going to be enjoying Iguaçu Falls ... in ARGENTINA! Nine minutes and counting. Nat & Kat find the Pit Stop clue.... Three minutes... Penalty time over, Brook & Claire take the two-spot. They will race for a million. But will they be the first all-female team to go all the way? Following them... Nat & Kat. Perhaps THEY will be the team to make history in the Race. Meanwhile at the bridge, Nick & Vicki head to the camp and get...
They're still learning about each other even as they end up on the losing end of this race. But they get the bad news as they are directed directly to the temple to check in as the final team eliminated from the 17th Race. They are fortunate to have made it this far and learning that getting angry over things doesn't change anything. The Amazing Race has made them better people... but at the end of the day, it's just not enough. And then... there were three. It's time to come home. Next time... THE MONEY ROUND.
