This Is How
You Lose a Million Dollars
May 10
Eleven teams left from Los Angeles on a
race around the world, battling the elements and each other for one
million dollars. Over time, eight of them were eliminated through faults
of their own or faults of other teams. Now only three remain: Margie &
Luke Adams, a mother-son team whose son is deaf... Victor & Tammy Jih,
siblings and Harvard Law alums... and Cara Rosenthal & Jaime Edmondson,
former Dolphins cheerleaders. Which one will arrive at the finish line
first?

IT'S TIME TO COME HOME!
Fly over 5000 miles to your final destination city, Maui,
Hawaii, USA! Once there, make your way to Beach Access 118 on Lipoa Road. Once
there, you will prep a Kahlua pig for a traditional Hawaiian luau by seasoning
with island flavoring. Then carry your 45-pound pig 200 yards to the luau, where
you will cover your pig to be cooked before being handed your next clue!
NOTE: You must dress in your bathing suits. |
Tammy knows that there is going to be a
lot of competition, so they're planning on bringing their A game.
They make it to the airport first, but
can't yet book their flight until 6am. Perfect time for Margie & Luke to
catch up as they head out on their amazing adventure.
Cara & Jaime finally head out at 2:04a.
All teams are on the final flight from
China to Maui.
MAUI, HAWAII
18 hours later
The teams hail cabs and get going to
Shore Access #118, some changing along the way there. Victor & Tammy are
the first to arrive at the pigs, followed by Cara & Jaime. Margie & Luke
make it to the scene and catch up to the other teams, who drop their
pigs. Excuse us. We're just passing through.
Margie & Luke are the first to arrive at
the luau, but can they properly bury it before the others arrive? No,
but they do finish before the others.

KEEP YOUR SWIMSUIT ON; YOU'RE HEADED FOR THE WATER!
Travel by taxi to the beach at McGregor Point. Once there,
take one of the marked watercrafts to a marked buoy field and search among 100
buoys to find your next clue. |
Hope your taxi is still there. It is.
Victor & Tammy realize that their pig is
buried wrong. The palm fronds don't have anything to do with the setup.
The other two teams finish as Margie & Luke arrive at the beach.
They're going to have to swim to the
watercraft, but they make it to the buoy field first. Will they find the
clue? Never mind that, will they be able to stay on their craft?
The answer to one of these questions... a
resounding yes!

FIND A FENCE!
Hana Highway plus Kapukulua equals Maui's Surfboard Fence. |
Meanwhile, the other two teams figure out
how to find the next clue. Cara & Jaime have no problem in that effort.
Victor & Tammy are soon behind.
Margie & luke arrive at the Surfboard
Fence first and find...

ROADBLOCK |
|
WHO'S READY TO BUILD SOMETHING FROM MEMORY?
Search through a pile of 300 vintage surfboards to find 11
that have pictures relating to things they have encountered on the Race. Then
create a surfboard fence by standing the boards in their correct order. Once
you've succeeded, you will receive your next clue |
Luke gets the nod on this one. He knows
everything they did and everywhere we went...
Leg 1: Church of San Antonio
Leg 2: Ruhpolding Gondola
Leg 3: Romanian Gymnastics
Leg 4: Krasnoyarsk Dam
Leg 5: Novosibirsk Lada
Leg 6: Jaipur Pit Stop
Leg 7: Phuket Zoo
Leg 8: Bangkok Boats
Leg 9: Guilin Cormorant
Leg 10: Beijing Foot Massage
Leg 11: Beijing Delicacies
His biggest problem: keeping his pants
up. He decides midway to just lose the pants altogether.
Meanwhile, Cara & Jaime once again have
the dubious fortune to a) get the cabbie that doesn't know where they're
going and 2) need gas. Tammy & Victor arrive at the Roadblock as Luke is
almost finished. Victor loses his pants as well.
But we have a problem as Luke is wrong on
board #10... and #11. Victor's right on #10 and #11. Jaime arrives to
perform the Roadblock... and Margie & Luke still need to find those last
two boards... Victor's going to catch up... Don't give up, Luke...
... and Victor has caught up! And Luke's
one ahead... and Victor's caught up again! And he's done!

MAKE YOUR WAY TO THE FINISH LINE!
Travel to the King Kamehameha Golf Club and follow the
marked path to the Finish Line! First team to the mat wins ONE MILLION DOLLARS!
This is it! GO! GO! GO! |
Victor & Tammy head out on their way as
the other two teams struggle to finish! They team up to finish... and
because Jaime is a woman of her word, she helps Luke find his final
board. And all Luke can do is mope that he cost his team the Race.
Same thing with Jaime.
Meanwhile, it's nothing but smooth
sailing for Victor & Tammy as they race toward Phil and his parade of
the eliminated... Preston & Jennifer (The Cock Fighters), Steve & Linda
(The Hicks from the Sticks), Brad & Victoria (The Badass Older Couple),
Amanda & Kris (The Amandakris), Christie & Jodi (Team Fly by Night), Mel
& Mike (Team West Hollywood), Mark & Michael (The Super Stunt Brothers),
and Kisha & Jen (the Cardinal Sisters).
And on the green to welcome the winners
off the Race... Phil himself. Let's let him make it official. Phil
Keoghan, it is all yours.
"Three continents, nine countries, 40,000
miles. Tammy & Victor, you are the OFFICIAL WINNERS OF THE AMAZING RACE!
Congratulations, you have won the $1 million!" Victor tried to enjoy the
race as it was, and he finds it hard to believe that he's here where he
is. Tammy... she has no pants on. She has been pushed her whole life,
and she's proven that though they think differently, she's as valuable
as he is.
Cara & Jaime arrive as team #2. Jaime
blames herself for her brainfart at the Roadblock, but Cara says that
it's a team game. For them, second is not too shabby.
And taking the bronze this season...
Margie & Luke. Luke admits that his mother is the bionic woman. He's
very lucky to have the mother he does. Margie's very happy to have his
son on the Race as well. First deaf person on the Race.. he's proud of
that. Other deaf people can say... hey... that can be me up there!
Take this from this season of the race,
from the Victor (pun intended): "Doing the crazy, unexpected, completely
unconventional... It actually makes like sorta interesting."
Group montage... wave to the camera...
fade to black... and look forward to the 15th running coming this
fall... Until then... don't forget to go out and do stuff... and we'll
see you back here on Race Day.
