"Round of 8: Songs
from the Year of Your Birth" - April 12-13
Gordon: This is Gordon
Pepper - and we welcome you all to another Idol
Roundtable.
Jason: Good evening.
Gordon: Joining us are some people you may have seen
before.
Anthony: Holla.
Jason: Yo.
Michelle: <----- :-D
Joe: What's crackin', b?
Gordon: We have Jason 'Beat The' Block, who once again
is destroying everyone
on WPLJ in NYC.
Jason: 2-0 this year...13-0 overall.
Gordon: We have Anthony Rojas - who is terrorizing us
all by selecting the
wrong people in Idol.
Anthony: :P
Gordon: Anthony was perfect last week. A perfect 0-5
Michelle: Don't pick on him .
Gordon: I can't pick on him, when Michelle, the pulse of
America, ALSO went
0-5. What happened?
Anthony: ouch.
Jason: Ouch indeed.
Michelle: So don't start with me tonight - I am not in
the mood.
Gordon: Don't hate me because I'm...beautiful.
Anthony: meow.
Gordon: Also with us is Joe Van Ginkel, who will be
terrorizing Mr. Forest
and Mr. Stephan to join us for the next WLTI.
Joe: Or trying.
Gordon: We have 2 new people joining us. First person is
the lovely Rachel
Kadushin, who doesn't want to terrorize anyone.
Rachel: that's true.
Gordon: The last person in the group will be my
wonderful sister Bonnie, as
we used to terrorize each other - but in a loving way.
Joe: Suuuuuuuuuuure.
Bonnie: Hello.
Gordon: Hello, wonderful sister.
Michelle: you call your sis wonderful?
Anthony: :)
Jason: (applause)
Michelle: I wish my brothers did that with me - lol
Bonnie: I have a nice brother don't I?
Gordon: So while Anthony and Michelle are licking their
wounds from last
week, let's see the scores.
Gordon - 14
Chico - 12
Jason - 11
Joe - 10
Anthony - 9
Michelle - 1
Rachel - 0 (NEWBIE)
Bonnie - 0 (NEWBIE)
Gordon: OK - we'll play our usual game....SAFE OR
TROUBLE????? You know how
we play.
Joe: Sigh. He loves this game.
Jason: To explain the rules...we give you the names of
the artist...you have
to say if you think they are safe or in trouble this
week.
Anthony: 2 trouble and 1 out = bottom 3.
Gordon: 1 point per correct person. 2 bonus points if
you are correct on the
out. 1 bonus consolation point if the person who is out
is on your trouble
list. First up....
Bo Bice
Rachel: safe!
Anthony: safe
Bonnie: Safe
Michelle: safe
Gordon: Safe - though a very boring performance
Michelle: agree
Joe: Safe, but I didn't care for his performance either.
Jason: I will say safe - just cause it is in his wheel
house.
Gordon: Next...
Anwar Robinson
Rachel: Safe
Gordon: Bonnie - Safe
Anthony: safe
Jason: Again--safe cause it was in his area of
expertise.
Michelle: safe
Joe: Safe.
Gordon: I thought he sang a nice safe song, which will
keep him in - but he
won't win if he doesn't get out of that genre.
Jason: Agreed.
Nadia Turner
Anthony: trouble
Rachel: He won't win.
Gordon: Chico says "Trouble."
Michelle: trouble
Bonnie: Trouble
Joe: Safe. But not by much.
Gordon: Trouble - she could easily be booted, but I
think she gets bailed out.
Rachel: this is a tough one... I'll go with trouble,
even though I liked the
song
Jason: trouble
Carrie Underwood
Anthony: safe
Michelle: safe
Bonnie: Safe
Jason: safe
Gordon: safe - but she's starting to turn into John
Stevens
Rachel: yeeah Safe, but boring lately
Gordon: Great song selection, and if she nails it, she
is no question the
front-runnner. The problem is that...she butchered the
words.
Constantine Maroulis
Anthony: safe
Rachel: safe!
Michelle: safe
Bonnie: Safe
Jason: safe
Joe: Safe. But I'd rather he wasn't.
Gordon: safe - Did he have the best performance of the
night?
Rachel: Well, he comes across as an actor, but his
singing has been shining.
Like Nadia he has a set expression or two, but much
better vocals.
Anthony: He sung a tough song well - that always helps
Rachel: Yeah. Randy thought he was pitchy, but I heard
the same song without
errors.
Gordon: Who is the front-runner - Carrie,
Constantine, or
someone else?
Anthony: Bo.
Jason: Carrie
Rachel: Could be Vonzell, if she continues to do as
well as she did last
night.
Gordon: Speaking of which....
Vonzell Solomon
Anthony: safe
Rachel: safe - top 3
Michelle: safe
Jason: safe
Joe: Safe. SHE had the best performance.
Anthony: over Carrie?
Gordon: No question - last night, Vonzell was better
than Carrie
Anthony: yes but in the end, Carrie gets most of the
votes for the women.
Gordon: She's getting the country vote, and I thought
her song choice was
great.
Joe: Carrie's safe too.
Gordon: I'm still waiting for that one great pop
performance out of her
though - and if we don't get it, she won't win.
Anthony: agreed.
Anthony Fedorov
Jason: out
Rachel: the lounge singer is out!
Bonnie: Out
Anthony: trouble
Jason: Why trouble and not out Anthony?
Gordon: I'm going to go with...trouble. If this was just
on the chaos theory,
Anthony is a goner. I think, however, that someone else
did something so
outrageously stupid, though - and that will keep him in.
Rachel: ah that would be Scottie.
Michelle: trouble
Joe: Fedorov -trouble.
Scott Savol
Joe: Poor Scott...even with the approval of Hall and
Oates, I think he's out.
Anthony: out
Gordon: out
Michelle: out
Jason: Trouble
Rachel: trouble for Scottie
Bonnie: Trouble
Rachel: He was flat during the verses. Didn't he have
someone listen and
coach it?
Gordon: He tells the group that there are millions of
people with no guts up
there, and he is there, and he rocks the house.
Rachel: Really, that's how you read it? I didn't feel
dissed. I felt he said
he had gone and done something that most people wouldn't
have the guts to do.
Gordon: MANY people were very insulted at what he said,
and quite frankly,
you NEVER should be insulting the people who are voting
to keep you in.
Gordon: He did say that - and you are one of the people
that he is talking
about. Are you voting for him?
Rachel: Interesting. I think I would have only been
insulted if I had gone to
the try outs and hadn't made it through the first round.
Gordon: and I would guess almost all of them vote.
Rachel: Who auditioned?
Gordon: Total - yes
Rachel: yeah. they probably do all vote.
Gordon: I wouldn't vote for him.
Rachel: So... anyone else watch the "preview" of one of
the things on Leno
last night?
Joe: no
Gordon: Let's sum this one up...

Gordon: Everyone has Anthony and Scott again.
Rachel: I'd like to see Carrie in trouble, but I think
she still did better
than Nadia this week.
Gordon: If you could select another person to be in the
bottom - who would
it be?
Jason: Carrie.
Joe: Constantine.
Gordon: I would put Bo there.
Jason: We are LIVE!
Gordon: Ryan says that we are in for a SHOCK!
Joe: Uh-oh...
Jason: Uh oh.
Michelle: Watch Simon, Paula and Randy be in the bottom
3 - that's the
shock.
Joe: That would be funny.
Jason: Ryan in a classy pinstripe suit.
Gordon: The results show will be stretched longer than
Kirstie Alley's
bicycling shorts, says Ryan Seacrest, as it's now 60
minutes. Ryan says that over
34 million votes came in. Constantine talks about his
wagging out his tongue and channeling Gene Simmons as he gets screams from the
crowd. Anthony says that
he feels good after last night - but he looks very
nervous. Should he be?
Anthony: Maybe.
Gordon: Vonzell says that it's awesome working with
Desmond Child. Why is she
working with Desmond Child? Because of the charity album
that they have been
singing for, as we get the recap. We also see the 12
Idols back together as
they sings the songs.
Joe: Whee!
Gordon: We see the idolers in action - including a
trademark 'Fabulous' from
Mikalah Gordon.
Jason: Mikalah...oh no!
Michelle: "fabulous" self.
Gordon: Nikko talks - and you can hear the crowd scream!
Too bad you didn't
vote for him enough, you dolts.
Anthony: D'OH!
Gordon: Ryan reminds up that you can buy the single on
April 19th - and you
can hear them sing it all....very soon...He reminds them
that one of them will
be heading home...
Jason: ...and break.
Gordon: Since Ryan warned us that we will be shocked, I
have to ask - is
there a shock coming?
Jason: No.
Rachel: If it is a shock, I'd say it is Carrie or Anthony
who is out. Maybe
Carrie in the bottom 3???
Michelle: back.
Gordon: Ryan promises that each of the bottom three will
be singing a song.
Oh yeah, that's what the people in trouble want to be
doing. We are also
promised that all of them will be singing, as we hear
them sing "When You Tell Me That You Love Me".
Michelle: Here comes the shock, people
Bonnie: So, how terrible is this song?
Anthony: Awful.
Gordon: It was SOOOO terrible, that even the ______
were
wearing earmuffs.
Jason: cockroaches.
Gordon: Ryan says that the contestants need to eat,
sleep and breathe the
music. And with that, we get....a recap on the idols and
how they select and chop
up their songs. This is actually a good segment (for
once).
Anthony: HR.
Gordon: Thursday, they pick the song. Thursday and
Friday they rehearse it.
Saturday, they do the charity album and have time off.
The time off
is...BOWLING!
Anthony: lol
Jason: NIce.
Anthony: right.
Gordon: Sunday is...the Ford Promo. We see a For...wait
a sec, that's not a
Ford, that's a block of wood. Monday - rehearsal with
the band. Tuesday - the
show - duh. You get one dress rehearsal, then hair and
make-up. Wednesday -
results (and Taps for someone).
Anthony: They are just stretching it now.
Jason: This is for the female 12-24 demo.
Bonnie: This is just a waste of time.
Gordon: First 40 minutes - waste of time. Ryan talks
about how nervous the
contestants are - and WE WON'T BELIEVE who's in the
bottom three.
Jason: I smell Chaos Theory.
Anthony: Could it be Bo?
Rachel: Carrie.
Jason: In fact it reeks.
Rachel: She just doesn't have enough personality. With a
coach maybe. She's
got the voice, but needs better moves.
Gordon: I would be surprised if it was Carrie. I
wouldn't be surprised if it
was Bo.
Michelle: I'll be her choreographer.
Rachel: I loved Nadia's dress. Everyone else for the
group song had jeans on,
and she got to be the center butterfly.
Gordon: Could it be because two of the singers who we
pegged, Anthony and
Nadia, actually sang well?
Gordon: JUST looking at yesterday's performances, Who
were the worst
performances for the night (not total)?
Rachel: Nadia is good some of the time -- she doesn't
consistently have
breath support, though.
Michelle: Scott, Anthony.
Anthony: Scott, Anthony, Nadia.
Michelle: I wasn't fond of Nadia so I gotta say her.
Rachel: Bo was good vocally, but he seemed tired on the
staging... trying to
cram in something that works.
Jason: We are back.
Gordon: Here's the Ford commercial. We get people
shooting the car - and then
recreating the photo and building the piece of woo...I
mean car using the
photos. That wasn't too bad, actually.
Jason: That was fun.
Gordon: Vote for the best Commercial on the Idol Website
- and YOU can win a
car! Here comes the Idol recap. Anthony and
Anwar...stepped up their game.
Nadia - not liked by the judges.
Jason: What the heck is with Nadia's hair?
Gordon: Vonzell - the judges love her. Split decision
for Scott, and we see
Scott's 'millions of people at home who didn't have the
nerve to do this' quote.
Jason: That was dumb.
Gordon: Very. Carrie rocked. We get a rock anthem for Bo
and a Queen classic
for Constantine.
Gordon: Carrie says that she had a bug - but she gave it
her all. Nadia talks
about the pressure of American Idol. Ryan says that
Anwar was very strong -
and Anwar says that he was being too intelligent. He is
now letting himself
getting emotionally involved. He talks about the three
people in the bottom, but
in the good news, they get to sing a SONG! Ryan asks
Scott what his favorite
song - and he says Against All Odds and She's Gone.
Scott will be
performing...Against All Odds. He's in the bottom three.
Michelle: The odds were against Scott.
Jason: Yup. We all get a point.
Gordon: Point for EVERYONE!
Joe: Yep.
Gordon: And Scott reminds us exactly what got him in the
bottom three - a
VERY flat song.
Anthony: Turning my song upside down.
Michelle: Paula was clapping and Simon put his arm on
her like 'stop' - lol
Gordon: Can Scott go Against All Odds and give us a song
in tune?
Anthony: He's cracking.
Gordon: From 1 to 10 - a rating on Scott Savol's
song? 1 - low, 10 - high
Joe: 2
Anthony: 2
Gordon: I'll go 3 - just because there will be two more
people singing so
I'll have to give some margin.
Gordon: So Scott is in the bottom three....
Jason: 3
Gordon: Apparently, THAT didn't shock anyone.
Rachel: Both Nadia and Carrie sounded like they had the
sniffles. Scottie? 8.
Gordon: 8????
Jason: You liked his performance??
Rachel: Yea-ah. Not a 10 though.
Jason: Ok...back to AI.
Gordon: While Rachel is getting her sanity checked, we
find out who is singer
#2. Carrie is next...safe. SHOCKING?
Anthony: nope.
Gordon: not.
Jason: Nope.
Gordon: Except for Joe, who loses a point.
Anthony: Maybe it is Bo.
Gordon: Anwar wants the audience to love him this way
again...and they do -
he's safe.
Joe: *shrug*
Gordon: Here we go to Bo...
Jason: Bo Bice wants to be free as a bird.
Gordon: He is...in the bottom 3.
Jason: Whoa....
Gordon: Bo performs Remedy.
Anthony: If he's out, I'm not watching anymore.
Bonnie: I like Bo.
Gordon: He says that he did this on a bet with his mom -
and that if worse
comes to worse, the worst that would happen is he goes
back to playing gigs -
which won't be that bad. Paula, who yesterday said that
we'd see Bo in the
finals, is still convinced that he would be there. Is
this the kiss of death from
Paula?
Jason: No - 'cause Anthony is coming with Bo.
Bonnie: Bo is not going home.
Gordon: What's your rating on Bo's Remedy?
Jason: 7 very good.
Rachel: I give Bo an 8 for his cool interview, but his
performance a 7. He
did it better when it wasn't a surprise. Of course.
Gordon: I'd go 8 on that - Very good, despite the
pressure that he was under.
Bonnie: You know even though I keep saying I like Bo,
the song could have had
a little more edge to it.
Gordon: So who will be shattered if Bo leaves?
Rachel: Bo's showing that he'll make it to the top 5,
but maybe not the top 3
because of vocal strength and flexibility.
Jason: I will be stunned.
Gordon: Will you be SHOCKED?
Anthony: Yes.
Gordon: Who will stop watching Idol if Bo leaves?
Jason: I can't. It's my job :)
Gordon: We're back - and we need one more person
to...Come on Down!
Jason: Wrong show.
Gordon: =)
Jason: Constantine felt Queenly this week.
Gordon: Simon was astonished that it...worked. The
audience...agrees.
Gordon: Vonzell Solomon is next. Will Vonzell be in the
bottom three again?
Will Anthony be in the bottom (as everyone predicts)?
Will Nadia be in the
bottom three? (Which almost everyone picked). The answer is.... Nadia is the last
person in the bottom 3. That means that Anthony is safe.
Jason: He redeemed himself enough, but I will be happy
if Scott goes.
Joe: I like him, but I'm pretty sure Scott's toast.
Bonnie: I think Nadia is gone.
Jason: that was a 4---not good. Ok, Gordon quick
explanation why everyone is
there.
Rachel: Yeah, I can't believe Anthony wasn't in the
bottom three, but at
least I got 2 out of 3.
Gordon: Bo is there because Constantine out sang him.
Nadia is there because
everyone called in to save Anwar and Vonzell. Scott is
there because people
called to save Anthony, who outsang him and Scott
couldn't keep his mouth shut.
And honestly, none of those shocked me. If Constantine,
Carrie or Vonzell were
in the bottom three, THAT would have shocked me.
Rachel: It still can't believe how flat Scott was on the
verses last night.
Gordon: Who thinks Bo is out?
(crickets)
Joe: Not me. Scott's going.
Gordon: Here we go...
Rachel: I think Nadia has been in the bottom 3 the most.
Gordon: Ryan reminds them all that they have to vote -
and asks the judges
for advice for the audience. Randy says to vote for the
consistent singer Randy
reminds them that Ruben and Fantasia were both in the
bottom - and they came
back to win.
Joe: But only Ruben deserved it.
Gordon: Paula reminds them to remember the passion and
that every song could
be their last. Simon says that picking the right song is
crucial, and he tells
Nadia that if she picked the song that she just sang,
she would not be in the
bottom three.
Jason: Randy and Paula think Simon has an ego :)
Gordon: Nadia says that she doesn't regret it, because
she likes to pick the
off-beat songs. She admits that the strategy may not be
working.
Michelle: Whoa.
Gordon: One of them is safe. it is.... Scott??!
Anthony: lol.
Jason: Holy....
Joe: Gadzooks.
Gordon: We get LOTS of boos now, and Randy is disgusted.
Jason: This is bull.
Joe: Here we go again.
Jason: Absolute Bull.
Gordon: Now quickly to the final 2. The result is
that...Bo...is safe.
Michelle: Bye bye Nadia.
Gordon: Nadia is out.
Jason: Bull---
Gordon: She thanks everyone in Miami for the incredible
journey.
Anthony: Vonzell took most of her votes.
Gordon: Yep - and Vonzell has a nice path to the final 4
Gordon: Distributing the points -
Anthony: yep
Gordon: Gordon - 3, Chico - 3, Bonnie - 3, Rachel - 3,
Anthony - 3, Michelle
- 3, Jason - 3, Joe - 1. Joey - boooo
Joe: *shrug*
Rachel: Nadia used Ryan's tie to wipe her eyes. And the
opera guys weren't on.
Gordon: So the total is now...
Gordon - 17
Chico - 15
Jason - 14
Anthony - 12
Joe - 11
Michelle - 4
Bonnie - 3
Rachel - 3
Gordon: Was anyone SHOCKED?
Joe: Yes.
Gordon: Joe was - I don't think anyone else was.
Rachel: Well, not shocked, just surprised that Anthony
got off and Scott's
still there.
Rachel: Nadia had been in the bottom 3 the most, I
think. Well, it certainly
makes me excited on a competition level for next week.
they all have to be
really good to stay in.
Gordon: And just like Jessica and Nikko, for selecting a
bad song and for
getting outsung by her counterpart, Nadia pays the
ultimate price for it. For
everyone, this is Gordon Pepper, wishing you all a good
night.
Michelle: Later.
Anthony: A ROJAS out.
Joe: Spread the love! |
