Quarterfinals Round 3 Results
August 19
Last night, you saw what Gordon had to
say about the acts in Group 3. And in the end, this turns out to be one
of the best, if not THE best Quarterfinals this season. But alas, seven
acts still have to go. Which five will make the final 20? We have the
results... and a couple of performances by Ashley Tisdale and Daughtry.
After greeting Piers, who called last
night absolutely marvelous, Sharon, and Hoff Daddy Fresh, we stop
talking about it and start being about it. First to the center of the
stage is BRI and Jeffrey Ou. The judges thought of BRI as akin to Katy
Perry and Amy Winehouse. Jeffrey had some technical issues, but took
himself out of a comfort zone. Advancing to the next round is... JEFFREY
OU! They easily could've put both through. Just shows you how close the
competition is and how crucial the vote is.
Next, singing her hit single "It's
Alright, It's OK," it's Ashley Tisdale. ... Fine, Sharpay from "High
School Musical". Young'uns...
Back to the talent show that bleeds red,
white, and blue. And the results... Jay Mattioli, Dave Johnson, and
Lawrence Beamen. The judges say that Jay's act has been done before.
Dave was Xed out. Lawrence... was called "The New Barry White". Going
home is... Dave Johnson. Obviously. Going forward is... LAWRENCE BEAMEN!
New Barry White. I miss the old Barry White, but he'll do. Heh.
Next up, Mario & Jenny and Marcus Terell
& the Serenades. The judges loved the new backup singers. They also
loved the sexy and dangerous Mario & Jenny. This is also going to be
close. Going to the semis is... MARIO & JENNY!
Next up to perform is a prepackaged
piece... It's Daughtry with their new single "No Surprise".
Back to results... G-Force, U4RIA Dance
Crew, and Hairo Torres. G-Force was off vocally, but were unique. U4RIA
was very cool and very strange in a good way. Hairo Torres was weird and
entertaining. Unfortunately, the road ends today for... G-Force. So
another dance act is entering the top 20. Going forward today is...
HAIRO TORRES! With that, U4RIA literally takes a knee.
That just leaves Pixie Mystere and
FootworKINGz at fifth and sixth. The judges get the final say. As the
Fourth Judge screams "FootworKINGz"... Sharon goes with the Fourth
Judge. Piers... thinks this is difficult. After insulting our
intelligence... Piers votes for... FOOTWORKINGZ! David's vote, for the
record, would've made it a sweep.
So one more time, tonight's
semifinalists...
- Jeffrey Ou (pianist)
- Lawrence Beamen (singer)
- Mario & Jenny (magicians)
- Hairo Torres (dancer)
- FootworKINGz (dance crew)
Next week, it's the final five for the
semis, and the battle has never been more heated. Until then, for
Gordon, I'm Chico, signing out.
